By Cari Jean

Roxanne Henke is the best-selling author of the Coming Home to Brewster series (over 80,000 books sold) and has also been dubbed "a Christian Book Association novelist to watch" by Publishers Weekly. The eight books she has published to date have each received positive reviews and she as a writer and a speaker has received several accolades. All of this, plus being a writer from a small town in North Dakota, are a few of the reasons why Roxanne Henke is my favorite Christian fiction author.

She is also my favorite for a few more reasons. Her books are heartfelt and sincere and they make me feel happy, sad, sympathetic, even angry and frustrated. Her characters become so real to me that I actually feel like praying for them as if they're friends of mine. And she herself, is very personable. I was fortunate to meet her at a book signing at Barnes & Noble. She signed my copy of her then-latest release, The Secret of Us. She even took the time to give me some advice on writing and shared a few of her own experiences with me.

Why I Like Christian Fiction

The main reason I really enjoy Christian fiction is because I don't have to worry about coming across something that is going to offend me, such as, swear words, explicit sex, violence and everything else that seems to be contained in the modern-day novel. I think this might be the case with others as well as Christian fiction is one of the fastest-growing genres. There are also more publishers who are willing to publish Christian fiction. They are finding that these novels don't just deal with salvation but also real true-life issues that authors such as Roxanne Henke discusses.

There are also several genres within Christian fiction including: historical fiction, romance, sci-fi/fantasy, contemporary, biblical, action/adventure, suspense and several others.

Other popular Christian fiction authors include: Frank Peretti, Karen Kingsbury, Lauraine Snelling, Beverly Lewis and Steven James.

art purses - thanks so much for your comment. She truly is an under-rated author and deserves more recognition. I hope you enjoy her books if you ever get a chance to read her.
